About This Forum

2013Since David Luterman’s first book (Counseling Parents of Hearing Impaired Children) was published in 1979, audiologists have been made aware of the challenges and skills involved with counseling patients with hearing loss and their families.  Almost 40 years later, for every insight we gain, new questions arise.  Even now, although most AuD programs include counseling courses in their curriculum, we are not ready to say we know everything about living with hearing loss, or how audiologists can provide support “beyond the audiogram.”

This forum provides a platform to explore the next issues in counseling. It is open to faculty, students mentored by faculty, and audiologists.  If you would like to help the profession advance in counseling, please consider submitting an article.  Contact Kris English, PhD for more information.
